kindergartners and welcome to Belle Chasse Primary School I'm a catfish your assistant principal I'm Rebecca rocking your school counselor and Willis Avenue your disciplinarian we are so excited to have you join us today for kindergarten orientation this is your official kindergarten orientation video and all of our kindergarten families have to attend orientation so at the end of watching this video there is a form that we email to you that will count as your tenant so make sure you complete the form and you have a chance to ask any questions that you still have after orientation and will submit that form as proof of your attendance at this virtual orientation and so during orientation we're going to share lots of info station with you about our school in about how to come to school so we welcome you and it says it's do you want to mention the handbook yes please make sure that you print off the handbook and have it handy why a video to the email how are you I'm so excited to see you today I wanted to tell you a little bit about our school Pre-K head start kindergarten and first grade we have about 550 students mascot is the pelican kelly green shirts to school to provide a structured environment that we try to address the whole time making sure that we're hitting academic standards as well as social emotional behavioral and physical confidences competencies we strive to develop confidence students who are willing to persevere Enterprise out of their achievements independent readers writers problem solvers and communicators we can't wait to start our school glad you're here I wanted to tell you about some important dates that I was just writing in my calendar so on Wednesday August 12th very important day you're going to want to check your email because you'll get to meet your child Peter she's going to email a video introducing herself to you and showing you and your inner child their new classroom for the upcoming school year this will be for all students both and face-to-face and then they buried what day Thursday August 13th very important day you're going to want to write this down we're going to have a pelican pass through from 3 to 5 p.m. if it's replacing or meet and greet so what's going to how can is everyone's going to drive through the front of the school similar to the parade we had at the end of the year where you got yourself at this time you're going to leave us your supplies just like you did a meet-and-greet everyone's going to stay in the car and then get to meet the teacher wave at her and then she will give you your folder for the beginning of the year paperwork and like I said is August 13th from 3 to 5 p.m. and then these are the other important August 17th which is a Monday in August 18th which is a Tuesday so half of our kindergarten students will come on Monday the 17th from 10 to 2 and the other half will come on Tuesday August 18th from 10 to 2 now I know that you're thinking how will I know which one is for me while when you get the email on August 12th from your teacher she will let you know if your student comes on the 17th from the two or the 18th from 10 to 2 so then on the 19th which is a Wednesday is kindergarten first full day regular day 8:45 to 2:45 all the important things I have for you now see you later hello so now we like to go over some important information in your student handbook is it right now for things are a little bit different due to covid-19 more information in student handbook so when you have time we love you to read all of the information in there but I'm going to just highlight some important information today first of all on page to you see the school's number fax no and our website along with the phone numbers of all of our Administration those are very important numbers so you want to make sure you have those handy I would program the school's number in your phone so that you can always call if you have any questions or if you need any also just that's our contact information but I would encourage you to make sure you're you're going to fill out your emergency card information for your student and any time there's a change to that please contact us cuz we want to make sure that we're able to get in touch with you and so sometimes cell phone numbers changed just make sure you update that often so anytime it needs to be so that we're all able to get in touch with each other the next thing on page 3 you'll notice that we have an important date we do have them the start dates are we do have some holidays but I'm just going to practice at these dates are subject to change episode are the dates and holidays that were planning early dismissal days that are going to be planned for later in the school year there will not be any early dismissal days in during the first quarter but just keep in mind that they now I want to go over arrival and dismissal this is going to be very important so on page for you can read how it usually happen and the procedures going to be the same but the time had been adjusted during the first quarter of school based on our different time taken time so our school hours during the 41 at school will be 8:45 to 2:45 the car rider line will begin 820 in the back of the school we have a carpool and will show you later in a video about where to line up and how that procedure will work temperatures will be taken in the car rider line before the student exits the car if a student has a fever then you'll just take your student home with you and then the nurse will be informed and there will be a period of time that they'll be excluded from school fever free so if the state are riding on the school bus we will also take your temperature when they arrive to school if a student has a temperature when they arrive to school they will be sent to an isolation area so that we're not infecting anyone out and the school nurse will contact the parent that's why it's very important that we have the correct numbers for all of our students so the school nurse will contact the parent and then you'll have to come pick up your student if they have a fever dismissal is at 2:45 so it's you 95 will start dismissing our students to buses and to car riders we typically dismiss our car riders through the cafeteria but again that we'll be at the back of the school the procedures are correct just the time will be different make sure parents you will receive if you are a car rider you'll receive a car rider tag make sure that you had that displayed in your front on the dash or hanging from your rearview mirror so that we can call the students up and get them out to you efficiently if your child is a bus rider you will receive a bus tag that we will ask you to make sure you attached to your stuck students to make sure that they get on the right bus and again that one can fill it out with your phone number address the students name to make sure that the bus driver can get in touch with you if there are any issues on the bus before and after school care is also available at our school that information was emailed out to you registration packet and information if you have questions about that feel free to call the school that is also available on our website you can access those forms and information on our website and one last thing to touch someone in this section of the video is checkouts and parent visit now typically during the school year we welcome parents to come by school volunteer and we always want parents to be involved and at school however during this time of pandemic we are limiting access to the school and so we are not allowing visitors into the in fact students are going to be eating lunch in their classrooms so you won't be able to visit for lunch if you need to be check if they need to be checked out have to be checked out by 2:15 so we always want them checked out before they end of the school day because once the end of the school day comes we're moving kids around we're trying to get them to buses Baisley and so all student checkouts must happen before 2:15 p.m. if you have to check out your student please call the office. the office and let us know when you are on the way so that we can have your child up to the office and ready to be dismissed do you always have to anytime you visit the school have to have your ID at your photo ID will check that out and compare it to the list of names on the emergency contact form and we only really students to those people listed on the emergency form so make sure that you list anyone who might check out your student again call ahead make an appointment when you need to visit the school or if you need to make a check out and when adults are entering the building they are required to wear masks so make sure you had your  and your photo ID cool procedures is where our carpool will start and when you're getting in line to pick up or drop off you will start here in our carpool lane at the appropriate time you'll be direct come on for all the details on car feed parking lot at Belle Chasse Elementary and as you can see our car they're going to follow that driveway all the way to the back to our carpool lane anticancer the carpool Loop we ask that you just your child ready to exit so have them unbuckled say your goodbyes and give kisses have your backpack ready to go and during this time we will be taking temperatures so we ask that you wrote out the window have your child seated in the back seat passenger side only have one but backseat we will meet you our duty Personnel will meet you at your car take your temperature all right you got a thumbs up at that point will exit right now welcome to the office and like to introduce you to we can't wait to see you first of all most important everyday you going to bring home a student communication folder and it's for your parent they will look through it the emergency card is most important whenever you need to be contacted we need the most updated information and anything in here that would need to be signed would need to be returned by the next day so if y'all will check it regularly this will be great can't wait to see you thank you Miss Betty and miss your Ralph a little bit more information about Generations that happen around school each day so your student will be having lunch in the classroom at this time your handbook has a regular lunch schedule on page six and when we get back to our regular time you will be invited time during our visitors for lunch your student will be having lunch in the cafeteria so that we're minimizing them traveling around the school and being exposed to other students they will be going out to recess so what are playground we have three play structures in each class one class per play structure at a time we'll play this is 30 minutes of outside play time back to the cafeteria and lunch are the lunch prices and so make sure that you do send that money for your student teacher and I put lunch money and how much you're paying so we can process after the cafeteria next up will have Miss Ray Riley from the DA's office to talk about at 10 welcome to this year's school year so this is a challenging time for us we must remain focused on what's more important our kids my name is ready Riley and I work for the Plaquemine Parish District Attorney's office I'm here to talk to you about your child attendance and how the law plays a role in this according to Louisiana revised statutes 17 Coleman to 33 cases of Habitual  are tardiness will be referred to the juvenile or family court is a coalition of the Plaquemine Parish School System the District Attorney's office and the juvenile court system these entities all share responsibility for dealing with problems on the ritual the referral criteria is a Apollo 18 years of age or under in our Parish I must attend school or some form of school and students have accumulated five or more unexcused absences for tardies in one semester refresh our office is well a student shall be considered habitually acid are habitually tardy when either condition continues to exist after all reasonable efforts by school Personnel truancy officer or other line for sale have failed to correct the condition after the 5th unexcused absence or 5th unexcused tardy within one school semester on the third unexcused absence or third unexcused tardy the legal guardian or parent will be no 5 through writing or conference by a school administrator once a child has reached the fifth occurrence of unexcused absence of charting a conference will be scheduling supervisor of child welfare and attendance dr. Lauren and a student will be referred to the district attorney's office to hearing officer which is myself will meet with a parent or legal guardian of students in grades pre-k through four students and the parents 5 through 12 a decision has been made by the District Attorney's Office whether the student will be referred to the truancy diversion program the fins program which is family in need of services or to the juvenile court system cases the Department of Children and Family Services may be contacted excused absences are as follows family vacation these are not approved by any law at all so if you're thinking you're going to get a great deal like going to Disney World because of prices being so good or that does deal fly that might be $39 round trip or you going to cruise and we know cruises are not in effect right now but it just because there's a deal doesn't give you the right to take your kid out of school and it will be counted as an unexcused absence also if your child doesn't have a ride to school or you have car trouble those are unexcused absences we have bus systems in place so that students will not be have to worry about being late or tardy overslept that is still an unexcused absences while also does Wonderful's hunting and fishing job and or vacation those are unexcused absence I know we live in hunting and fishing is huge but can't just take your child out of school just to go hunting and fishing and as a result all absences will be looked at on a case-by-case basis documentation is a must I can explain that I can't import at enough documentation imitation documentation you have to have documentation when it if your child is either absent or tardy or late for class also if you have any problems contact the school's principal or the attendance for clerk at your child's perspective School thank you high again I am reporting live from my parent Center and I will be discussing dress code detailed information on a dress code can be found on pages 8 and 9 in our handbook kelly green shirt are the only shirts that are only color shirts that are allowed if you CD and they must have our school emblem on them shirts and spirit church you purchased for my online store may be worn every Friday all shirts must be tucked in and undershirts may be worn only if they are the color white or kelly green khaki uniform skort short skirts or Jumpers must come to the Nate thank you so model mohnish done a great job please read the handbook for the details on uniform pants tight bottoms with elastic waist or allowed if your bottoms have belt you must wear a belt and it may be black brown or khaki socks must be white black or kelly green black white stockings may be worn during the winter months tennis shoes are preferred at school we also prefer prefer velcro shoes especially especially during this pandemic choose must be closed toe flip flops boot Crocs sandals are not permitted and if your child wears these to school you will be called to bring the child a pair of tennis shoes the office take place while you're at CCP a b c d School sweatshirt I don't know. Or school jacket they are only permitted inside of our building no other are sweaters are allowed in our school building please make sure that your child's first and that last name is written on all outerwear maps are not required at BCP however if you would your child to wear a mask at school we will provide the math for you you just need to contact the main office and we will send them home with your child only mass given out by our school office will be allowed to be worn on campus clear or mesh book bags are allowed and please refer to our handbook for hair and our hair and accessory policies see you again soon hello now I'd like to talk to you a little bit about the academic kindergarten at Belle Chasse Primary School are kindergarten students are working on the Louisiana state standards if you turn to page 9 in your handbook you'll see a little more information about the academics at our school as well as people progression are kindergarten students need to meet certain requirements in order to pass on to first grade in addition you will receive a report card teachers will also keep him informed on things that you can work on at home to help your student needs those standards as a school counselor my job is to help ensure that every student is able to reach there full potential so I work with students to meet their emotional social and academic needs and I do this in a lot of different ways some of the ways that I do this is through counseling lessons I go to kindergarten and first grade provide kindergarten lessons on owner of different topics like conflict resolution and this year I am also fighting Pre-K with free writing lessons social emotional lesson that they can utilize more other ways that I also need the knees is through immediate student support and school y programs programs will be in the spring if the great kindness Challenge and we work at the school to spread kindness and immediate student services so that I can help with I'll come by and we'll meet so if you ever have a concern for your child or you would like me to talk with your child you can always feel free to reach out if you have concerns I'm always available through phone and email want to be other I helped support is a referral so if there is if we were if your child or brought the outside service because we work very closely with Apartments Parish Community you'll see in the beginning of your folder or a referral to fill out this is just a hold in the case that we feel like referral is needed we would never send it without your support you in regards to the medical information information about medications immunization school if your child has any allergies or medication that's cool it could be anything from an inhaler to an EpiPen for allergies your child does required to have a medication order form completed by position and a pair for him to get with it as well if have any diet special restriction lactose intolerant certain died with they cannot eat peanut allergy no eggs anything to that nature we also have a diet form if they have cafeteria I can be email so I can send those via email you could call the phone numbers on there as well just let us know so we can get that taken care of also on the phone required by Louisiana state law to have immunization and they must be current and up-to-date with their birthday some of the little Pre-K students that are attorneys for in August Timber do require to have their immunization within 4 days after their birthday I will send a little notification to you to remind you to get there in his Asian if they do not get it within a certain date or not allowed go back to school till they get those immunizations up-to-date if you have questions about that as well let me here to share some more info information from our student handbook with you today I'm going to start by discussing discipline this information can be found on page 12 of our hands book our faculty and staff or committed teaching the whole child here ipcp Behavior social and emotional learning is a part of our vision we have very clear expectations in that all of our students are expected to fall throughout the school year I mean know your babies are coming to us not knowing any of these rules and expectations all the adults in our school will not teach and repeat so that they clearly understand what is expected of them in all areas of the school in fact the piggyback on our discipline approach we use the responsive classroom approach and that's a way of teaching that creates of states Google Classroom as well as a positive school-wide climate for all students are teachers and staff follow the responsive classroom guideline understands that all students need included academic social emotional and physical and all of those qualities are very important to the whole child this correlates very close late with our schools High School mascot helps guide us to follow the full expectation our first full expectation is to take care of yourself tested do you know how one can take care of him take care of himself themselves by doing their work being ready to learn and paying attention to their teacher that sounds like lots of the choices both houses expectation is by taking care of others if she has some ideas and how we can take care of others absolutely our children that to take care of others we're kind we keep our hands and we listen While others are speaking and finally so remind us to take care of your school the test that can you talk about that yeah that's also parents choices that students are using we have called Class Dojo so Class Dojo is used by the teacher took for the student to earn for meeting me expectations taking care of himself taking care of others and taking care of their school when a teacher notices those things a student can earn in the wonderful thing about class dojo is that parents can also use it to communicate with the teacher is found on the last page of our handbook and someone a teacher or staff member issues a write-up it comes to the office and item is a petit or my so we'll discuss the behavior with this dude and call you the parent and talk about an issue a consequence for the actions unfortunately and extreme and imposes students can be suspended it depends on the infraction and explain more in the student handbook and also we have a specific bus rider rules that can be found on page 16 of the student handbook and also we have the school bus conduct written by our transportation department please read it thoroughly and talk to your child about what's expected of them on the bus we will also be doing that here at school is important things for the kids to remember on the bus it's just a facing
